Minimum qualifications and requirements for admission to various programs
Admission to St. Xavier's College, Burdwan is based on merit. Candidates must fulfill the eligibility criteria as prescribed by the University of Burdwan and the college.

Undergraduate Programs (UG)
Candidates must have passed Higher Secondary (10+2) from a recognized board (WBCHSE, CBSE, ISC, or equivalent).
General Requirements:
Minimum 45% aggregate in 10+2 (40% for reserved categories)
Must have studied relevant subjects at 10+2 for Honours courses
Subject-Specific:
B.Sc. Biotechnology (H): Biology/Biotechnology + Chemistry at 10+2
B.Sc. Computer Science (H): Mathematics at 10+2
B.Com (H/G): Commerce stream or equivalent
BBA: Any stream
BCA: Mathematics at 10+2
B.A. English (H): English at 10+2
B.A./B.Sc. Geography (H): Geography preferred
B.A. Sociology (H): Any stream
B.A./B.Sc. Economics (H): Mathematics preferred
B.A. Mass Communication & Journalism: Any stream
Postgraduate Programs (PG)
M.A. English: Bachelor's degree with English Honours
Minimum 50% in Honours subject (45% for reserved categories)
Admission based on merit of undergraduate marks
Reservation Policy
As per Government of West Bengal norms:
SC: 22%
ST: 6%
OBC-A: 10%
OBC-B: 7%
PwD: 5%
EWS: 10%
Valid certificates from competent authorities required.
