Fostering Innovation and Entrepreneurship

The Institution's Innovation Council (IIC) at St. Xavier's College, Burdwan was established under the Ministry of Education's Innovation Cell (MIC) initiative to foster a culture of innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship among students and faculty.

About IIC:

IIC is a platform dedicated to promoting innovation and start-up culture within the college ecosystem. It works in alignment with the national agenda of building an innovative and entrepreneurial India.

Objectives:

To create a vibrant local innovation ecosystem within the college
To promote, support, and celebrate student-led innovations and start-ups
To organise innovation and entrepreneurship-related activities, workshops, and hackathons
To establish collaborations with industry, incubators, and government agencies
To encourage faculty and students to file patents and develop innovative solutions

Key Activities:

Innovation contests and idea challenges
Entrepreneurship awareness workshops and seminars
Hackathons and design challenges
Mentoring sessions with industry experts and successful entrepreneurs
Interaction with successful start-ups and innovators
Participation in national-level IIC events and activities

Collaboration:

The IIC works closely with the Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) and maintains linkages with AICTE, DST, and other innovation-promoting bodies.

UGC & AICTE Compliance:

The IIC functions in accordance with guidelines issued by the Ministry of Education, AICTE, and UGC to support the innovation ecosystem in higher education institutions.
