St. Xavier's College, Burdwan, established its Department of Biotechnology at the inception of the college in 2014 with the introduction of the Bachelor's in Biotechnology program, marking a significant milestone in its history. The department is equipped with well-furnished classrooms featuring projector facilities, ensuring a conducive environment for lectures and interactive learning experiences. To facilitate laboratory classes, the department has established individual laboratories dedicated to General Biotechnology, Microbiology, and Biochemistry. In addition to the aforementioned laboratories, the college has established a separate laboratory within the department specifically for Plant Tissue Culture and Phytochemistry. This facility enables both students and faculty members to engage in research, projects, training programs, and workshops related to these specialized fields. The department maintains a team of highly qualified faculty members specialised in Biotechnology and its interdisciplinary areas. All laboratory programs within our Department of Biotechnology are meticulously planned and executed under the guidance of our esteemed faculty members. Their expertise, coupled with the support of our highly skilled technician, ensures that each laboratory session is conducted with precision and effectiveness.
