The Department of Economics at St. Xavier’s College, Burdwan offers a Four-Year Undergraduate Program aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, providing a robust foundation in economic theory, quantitative methods, and real-world application. The program is designed to foster critical thinking, analytical ability, and research orientation, preparing students for careers in academics, policy, finance, and development sectors. The curriculum integrates theoretical knowledge with practical tools, including mathematical-statistical methods and econometrics, to prepare students for higher studies or careers in research, policy-making, and the corporate sector.The new age Economics education is also constantly fine tuning itself in line with the ongoing changes happening in the trade and business world. The department strives to transfer knowledge and skills which are conducive with recent developments in the global economy and society, particularly inculcating industry 4.0 skills and critical aspects of the New Education Policy (NEP).
