The National Service Scheme (NSS) at St. Xavier’s College, Burdwan is an integral part of the institution’s commitment to holistic education and social responsibility. Sponsored by the Government of India and managed by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, NSS was launched in 1969—the birth centenary year of Mahatma Gandhi—with the vision of fostering service-oriented citizens. At St. Xavier’s, the NSS unit plays a crucial role in shaping students’ personalities through voluntary community service, encouraging them to connect with society and contribute meaningfully to its welfare.

Its objectives include:
