St. Xavier’s College, Burdwan, established in 2014 and affiliated with The University of Burdwan, offers a comprehensive undergraduate program in Mass Communication and Journalism. This program is designed to equip students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills essential for careers in media, journalism, and communication. The curriculum integrates theoretical foundations with hands-on training in areas such as scriptwriting, cinematography, video editing, sound design, and media ethics. Students engage in practical sessions using industry-standard equipment, including teleprompters, HD cameras, and sound labs.
The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication incorporates a holistic approach to integrate media professional skills and techniques with academic rigour to produce a well-tuned generation of media professionals, who are aware and up-to-date with the evolving challenges of the field.
