WATER NECTAR-Aquaculture Project

On the 5th of June, St. Xavier's College, Burdwan, witnessed the grand inauguration of the 'Water Nectar', a tank aquaculture project. This initiative, undertaken by the Xaverian Society for Human Sustainability in collaboration with the Department of Geography, marks a significant step towards achieving Sustainable Development Goal No. 14: Life Below Water.

On 22nd March 2023, the Department of Geography at St. Xavier’s College, Burdwan, organized a Master Class on "Flood: Theory & Mapping" to celebrate World Water Day. The session was led by Soumita Banerjee, a UGC-SRF from the Department of Geography at Jadavpur University, Kolkata. The event aimed to raise awareness about flood disaster management among students and equip them with skills to handle such disasters effectively.

This special lecture was the 2nd extension lecture for the Department which was conducted on 23rd February, 2019. It participants were the undergraduate students of all three years, the ex-students of the college who are undergoing postgraduate degree and also form the other department. In the whole session, Prof. Samanta delivered her inspiring speech on the fundamental theories and practices of urban geography in geography in order to inculcate knowledge especially for the undergraduate students.
